Eye Twitch
A twitch generally refers to contraction of involuntary muscle. The involuntary contraction of the muscle of lower eye lid is called eye twitching. The causes of these twitches of lower eye lids could be stress. Usually eye twitches do not last for more than a few minutes. But rarely do they need treatment depending upon the individual. Caffeine intake should be reduced and regular sleep is required for those who have problems with eye twitches. Blephorospasm is a condition in which both eyelids undergo twitching sensation simultaneously. Stress is the important cause for these conditions. A mild massage with fingers is sufficient to treat mild eye twitches. A little severe eye twitches are treated with anti-histaminic medications. These drugs will reduce the excitability of these muscles and allows them to relax. A severe form of eye twitching disturbs speech and eating style. This type of conditions should be treated under medical supervision. In general people who have or develop the problems of eye twitch conditions exercise their eyes regularly. It is important to relax the eye muscles after a stressful workout.
